Mongla Feb 13 (V7N) – Five Awami League leaders and activists were arrested in Mongla during separate raids conducted by the Coast Guard and police as part of Operation Devil Hunt. The arrests took place in different areas late Thursday night.

According to law enforcement sources, the Coast Guard detained three individuals from the Kanainagar area of the Mongla municipal suburb. The arrested leaders are Sultan Howlader (50), Hashem Fakir (40), and Gautam Mondal (35)—all of whom have multiple criminal cases pending against them.

Meanwhile, Mongla police conducted a separate operation in the Gwalirmeth area of the upazila, arresting Awami League leader Shah Alam (45) and activist Md. Jasim (27). Officials confirmed that further legal proceedings are underway.

Authorities have intensified operations across the region as part of the nationwide crackdown under Operation Devil Hunt, targeting individuals with outstanding cases. Security forces remain on high alert.
