Jhalakati, Apr 16 (V7N)– Habibur Rahman Selim Reza, President of the New York Metropolitan South BNP, USA, is actively campaigning in the Jhalokati-1 (Rajapur-Kantalia) constituency, expressing his strong desire to secure the BNP nomination for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

"BNP nomination aspirant wants to reclaim Jhalokati-1 (Rajapur-Kantalia) seat in next parliamentary election. Habibur Rahman Selim Reza, President of New York Metropolitan South BNP, USA," a Jhalokati Representative reported.

Selim Reza, currently based in the United States, is engaging with party leaders and activists across various villages and neighborhoods in the Jhalokati-1 Upazila. His campaign includes mass contact initiatives, work meetings, and opinion exchange sessions, all aimed at garnering support for the BNP's electoral symbol, the "paddy sheaf." He is also maintaining close communication with central BNP leaders.

"Hoping to get the nomination of BNP, Habibur Rahman Selim Reza is campaigning in various villages and every neighborhood of Jhalokati-1 (Rajapur-Kantalia) Upazila along with party leaders and activists to seek votes for the paddy sheesh through various strategies including mass contact, work meetings and opinion exchange meetings. He is also in constant contact with central leaders," the report detailed.

Selim Reza has a history of active involvement in BNP politics, particularly during the Awami League government's tenure. He led numerous protests against the government in the United States. Notably, he was at the forefront of demonstrations against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her visits to the United States. He has also been involved in campaigns demanding the release of imprisoned BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, and advocating against what he describes as "conspiracies" against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. Additionally, he has participated in all central BNP programs.

"Earlier, during the rule of the Awami League government, he had led the movement against the illegal government in the United States at various times. It is worth mentioning that whenever the illegal Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to the United States at that time, Selim Reza was in the front row and led the movement against her. Habibur Rahman Selim Reza has also worked to implement various programs, including protest marches, pasting posters and distributing leaflets, demanding the release of the party's chairperson, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who is in prison, and an end to all conspiracies against Tarique Rahman. In addition, he has carried out all the party's central programs wherever he was," the report stated.

Local BNP leaders and activists have expressed their support for Selim Reza's candidacy. Md. Tanvir Hossain Sohel, former senior vice-president of the Kantalia Upazila Jubo Dal, described Selim Reza as a "transparent and clean politician" who enjoys the backing of grassroots party members. Zakaria Sumon, former president of the Rajapur Upazila Jubo Dal, characterized him as a "generous and selfless leader," predicting his victory if nominated by the BNP.

"Former senior vice-president of the Kantalia Upazila Jubo Dal, Md. Tanvir Hossain Sohel, said that the grassroots leaders and activists of the party want to see Habibur Rahman Selim Reza as the candidate from the Jhalokati-1 constituency this time. Because Habibur Rahman Selim Reza is known as a transparent and clean politician to the people of the area. Former president of Rajapur Upazila Jubo Dal, Zakaria Sumon, said, 'Habibur Rahman Selim Reza is a generous and selfless leader. Therefore, if he is nominated by BNP, no one will be able to stop his victory in this seat,'" the correspondent reported.

Habibur Rahman Selim Reza himself expressed strong optimism about securing the BNP nomination and winning the Jhalokati-1 seat. "Habibur Rahman Selim Reza, who is 100% optimistic about receiving the party nomination, said, 'This time, if the party nominates me with the paddy sheaf symbol, I am 100% optimistic about winning, God willing,'" Selim Reza affirmed.
