Khulna, June 12 (V7N) – Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince has demanded that the national elections be held by December this year, calling the proposed timeline of holding elections in April an "unnecessary delay."

Speaking at a 'Meet the Press' event organized at the Khulna Press Club on Thursday afternoon, he warned that any delay in holding the polls could pave the way for “evil forces” to emerge. “Like other democratic parties in the country, we also want elections by December. If the elections are postponed, the hegemonic forces can fulfill many of their agendas,” he said.

Ruhin Hossain Prince clarified that the CPB has no disagreement over the election process or the role of the judiciary. “The necessary institutions to ensure a free and fair election must be functional, and the judicial process must be visible. We believe elections can be completed within December if these steps are taken,” he added.

Regarding the issue of banning the Awami League, Prince said, “We don’t support banning any political party by executive order. However, they have no remorse for the atrocities they committed. They have lost the moral right to speak in national politics. If elections are delayed, fallen forces may rise again.”

Commenting on the meeting between BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and the chief advisor in London, Prince remarked that it was a positive development, but “now the ball is in the government's court.”

The CPB leader also announced a Dhaka-Chattogram road march program on June 27 and 28 to protest against handing over the responsibility of operating the corridor and terminal of Chattogram port to a foreign company.

Khulna Metropolitan CPB President HM Shahadat, General Secretary Nityanand Dhali, CPB leader SA Rashid, and former General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Babu were present at the event.
