Rangamati, August 7 (V7N) – The Rangamati district unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a victory rally and public gathering on Wednesday to mark the anniversary of the historic student and mass uprising known as the July Revolution.

Despite inclement weather, party leaders and supporters marched through the town’s main roads before concluding with a rally at the New Market intersection in the municipal area. The event was organized by the Rangamati BNP and featured senior local and central leaders.

Advocate Dipen Dewan, Central Executive Committee’s Assistant Secretary for Religious Affairs, addressed the rally as the chief guest. In his speech, he described the July Revolution as more than a student-led movement, calling it a broader national uprising against what he referred to as the “fascist regime of Sheikh Hasina.”

Quoting BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Dewan said, “Tarique Rahman had once stated that the fascist Hasina regime would be overthrown through a mass uprising. That vision was realized through the July Revolution.”

Speakers at the event expressed concern over alleged domestic and international conspiracies aimed at derailing the upcoming national election. They urged BNP activists and affiliated organizations to remain vigilant and united in order to safeguard the electoral process and the country’s democratic future.

“There are continuous conspiracies against BNP, just as there were in the past. We must put aside internal divisions and stay united to face the challenges ahead,” Dewan added.

Other leaders warned party members not to fall into political traps and emphasized the need to deny third parties any opportunity to exploit the situation. “BNP is the largest political force in the country. No one should undermine its strength by being careless or divided,” they said.

The speakers also welcomed the interim government’s recent announcement to hold national elections in February, calling the decision timely and necessary. They emphasized the importance of maintaining a conducive environment for a free and fair election, cautioning that any further democratic setbacks could lead the country into another phase of political uncertainty and suffering.

The rally was presided over by Rangamati BNP President Dipon Talukder Dipu. Among others in attendance were former State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Moni Swapan Dewan, District General Secretary Mamunur Rashid Mamun, Vice President Saiful Islam Ponir, Senior Vice President and former Mayor Saiful Islam Bhutto, Acting President of Rangamati District Jubo Dal Nurun Nabi, and leaders of various party-affiliated wings.

The event was part of BNP’s ongoing month-long nationwide observance of the July Uprising anniversary, commemorating what the party describes as a turning point in the country’s fight for democratic restoration.
