NALCHITI (JHALAKATHI), March 5, (V7N) — A young man with a history of criminal allegations was killed following a series of violent altercations with his neighbors in Nalchiti, Jhalakathi. The deceased has been identified as Milan Howlader (30), son of Selim Howlader from Shankarpasha village.

The incident, which began as a dispute over a residential electricity connection, escalated into a deadly confrontation on Wednesday afternoon.

According to local sources and the police, the violence unfolded in several stages:

The Initial Dispute: On Wednesday (March 4) afternoon, Milan Howlader engaged in a heated argument with his neighbor, Belal Hawlader, over an electrical line.

The First Attack: In a fit of rage, Milan reportedly beat Belal and his daughter, Iti Akhter, leaving them injured. He also allegedly attacked Belal's residence.

Police Complaint: Following the assault, Belal’s family filed a formal written complaint at the Nalchiti Police Station.

The Retaliation: Enraged by the police complaint, Milan and his brother, Miraj Howlader, launched a second attack on Belal’s family.

The Fatal Counter-Attack: During the second clash, Belal and his brothers fought back. Milan was critically injured in the ensuing melee.

Locals rescued the injured Milan and rushed him to the Nalchiti Upazila Health Complex. Due to the severity of his injuries, the attending physician referred him to the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (Shebachim) in Barisal, where he passed away while undergoing treatment.

OC Ariful Alam of Nalchiti Police Station confirmed the death and noted that the deceased had a checkered past. "Milan Howlader was an accused in multiple cases previously registered at this station," the OC stated. He added that the police have launched a drive to arrest those involved in the killing, as the situation in Shankarpasha remains tense.
