JHENAIDAH, Mar 12, (V7N) – Around 1,554 beneficiaries from 14 villages in Ghorshal union of Sadar upazila received government rice assistance under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme ahead of Eid‑ul‑Fitr.
The distribution programme was inaugurated at 10:00 am Thursday at the Ghorshal Union Parishad premises by Union Parishad Chairman Parvez Masud Lilton.
Among others present were Tag Officer Sandeep Kumar, Administrative Officer Waheduzzaman, and several Union Parishad members.
Each beneficiary received 10 kilograms of rice, with a total of 388 maunds distributed.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Lilton said the rice was an Eid gift from the Prime Minister to support poor and helpless families. “We are working sincerely to ensure that the poor and helpless receive food assistance during Eid,” he added.
Officials noted the initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to provide food support to low‑income families so they can celebrate Eid‑ul‑Fitr with greater ease.
