In the midst of devastation caused by the cyclone in Mongla, Basundhara Group has stepped forward to distribute food aid, funded by foregoing birthday celebrations.
 
Standing by the families affected by the cyclone Romel in Mongla, Basundhara Group's Vice Chairman Saifowyan Sobhan and his family have chosen to contribute the funds allocated for their birthdays towards providing food assistance to the affected. On the first day of food distribution, this aid reached among a thousand families in Mongla. Local Member of Parliament Habibun Nahar handed over the food supplies at the Chandpai Union Parishad premises on Thursday afternoon.
 
The food aid package includes rice, lentils, oil, salt, potatoes, flour, noodles, sugar, tea, biscuits, and toast.
 
Present at the food distribution event were Basundhara Group's GM Foyezur Rahman, DGM Masudur Rahman, along with other senior officials, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Tarikul Islam, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Mohammad Jafor Rana, Upazila Health Assistant Engineer S.M. Sohan Ahmed, and Chandpai UP Chairman Molla Tarikul Islam.
 
Speaking on behalf of Basundhara Group, GM Foyezur Rahman and DGM Masudur Rahman expressed that Saifowyan Sobhan, Vice Chairman of Basundhara Group, along with his family members, decided not to celebrate their birthdays and instead allocated the funds to provide food assistance to the cyclone-affected individuals. They emphasized that Basundhara Group has been and will continue to stand by those affected by various disasters in the past, present, and future.
 
They further stated that on the first day, the food aid was distributed among the worst affected families in Romel of Mongla Upazila and Ramapal Union of Mallikherberia Union. Subsequently, the food aid will be distributed among the affected people of Mongla Pourashava.
 
They assured that Basundhara Group will continue to provide uninterrupted food assistance to the affected individuals in the upazila's devastated areas.
