In the Puran area of Rajshahi, residents of the Musakhan Shelter Project are facing difficulties due to the absence of proper roads.

Rajshahi, July 6 (V7N)- The Pirgacha-Kathalbari Musakhana Shelter Project has been established in the Puran area of Rajshahi. A total of 117 families reside within the project. Most of these families face hardships in their daily lives as there is no direct road access from their homes. Despite having paved roads nearby, the lack of a connecting road forces residents into a secluded state of living.

Adjacent to their homes, there exists a road owned by a private individual. Planting banana trees on this land has led to the closure of the road. Additionally, other pathways have long been closed off by the landowners of privately-owned properties. With these roads closed, residents of the Musakhan Shelter Project face considerable challenges and hardship, especially during the rainy season.

Upon inspection, it is evident that the Musakhan Shelter Project spans over a kilometer in length. While there is one road nearby that could potentially connect them to paved roads, it remains incomplete at the far end, leaving residents of the shelter project in dire straits.

Efforts have been made by the local committee overseeing the Musakhana Shelter Project to address these issues. According to committee spokesperson Ashraful Islam, despite making written requests to local councilors, there has been no tangible progress in constructing necessary roads.

Councilor Shafiqul Islam Ruhul of Ward 6, Rajshahi City Corporation, mentioned that they have not received any formal complaints so far. Previously, efforts to utilize various roads for commuting were hindered by their private ownership status, leading to the overgrowth of bamboo fences in different areas and the initiation of crop planting on the land.

Consequently, the current lack of accessible roads has caused severe inconvenience for residents of the Musakhan Shelter Project. However, I believe it is crucial to establish a new road for the Musakhan Shelter Project to ensure a better future for the boys and girls in the village.
