Chittagong University (CU) authorities have apprehended 32 individuals, including students and outsiders, in an anti-drug raid on the campus.

During the four-hour operation on Saturday, authorities seized 11 mobile phones, 28 motorbikes, two private cars, a substantial amount of cannabis, and drug paraphernalia.

Assistant Proctor Liton Mitra stated that the raid targeted several areas including the Biological Faculty’s pond, Central Field, and other hotspots, resulting in the capture of eight students and 24 outsiders.

The CU administration will impose academic penalties on the arrested students, while the police will handle the legal actions against the outsiders.

Earlier this year, CU restricted outsider access to the campus and mandated that students carry ID cards at all times for verification.
