In the Manohardi and Belab upazilas of Narsingdi, four brick kilns have been fined a total of Tk 12 lakh for environmental pollution and failing to get environmental clearance.

Executive Magistrate Faizunnessa Akhtar of the Department of Environment's Monitoring and Enforcement Wing delivered this ruling on Monday afternoon while conducting raids on several brickyards.

The matter was confirmed by Sheikh Nazmul Huda, Deputy Director of the Narsingdi District Environment Directorate.The brick kilns in question are located in the Chandichla area of Manohardi Upazila and are owned by Barachapar BRB Bricks, M/s Shamim Construction, PSB Bricks, and National Bricks. A total of Rs 12 lakhs in fines was imposed on them, one for each of them.

The Narsingdi District Environment Department's deputy director, Sheikh Md. Nazmul Huda and assistant director, Munsur Molla oversaw the operation.

Law enforcement officials, including police and RAB, as well present.
