Khulna, July 27 – Security measures have been intensified at Khulna District Jail in response to a recent incident, confirmed Jail Superintendent Md. Rafiqul Quader on Friday evening. Surveillance has been ramped up both inside and around the prison, and the leave of all prison employees has been canceled. Additionally, all meetings between inmates and their relatives have been suspended.

Superintendent Quader stated that the weapons of the prison guards have been updated and that all guards are now continuously on duty. Extra police forces have been deployed at the main gate to enhance security further.

"Special attention is being maintained on the prisoners at all times," said the Jail Superintendent, emphasizing the prohibition of all inmate visits and the bolstered security within the jail.

A visit to the prison in the afternoon revealed heightened security measures, particularly around the main gate. Law enforcement members stationed there are on high alert, with special surveillance increased on movements in the prison area.

According to prison sources, Khulna District Jail has a capacity of 676 prisoners but currently houses 1,421 inmates, necessitating the increased security measures.
