Chattogram, Sep 23 (V7N)- A devastating road accident occurred late Monday night, around 11:30 PM on September 23, in the Natun Bridge area under Bakolia Police Station in Chattogram. A brick-laden truck, speeding towards Chaktai after crossing the Shah Amanat Bridge (Natun Bridge), lost control and crashed into roadside fruit vendors and hawkers. Simultaneously, a fish-laden truck overturned, adding to the chaos.

Initial reports suggest casualties, though exact figures are yet to be confirmed. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ekhtiar Uddin of Bakolia Police Station confirmed the incident, stating, "Police and fire service teams are conducting rescue operations at the scene. The identities of the victims are not yet known, but it is suspected that two people may have lost their lives."

Eyewitnesses reported that the brick-laden truck also collided with a CNG auto-rickshaw, a motorcycle, and nearby shops, trapping several individuals underneath. Three people, including the auto-rickshaw driver and a motorcyclist, were crushed under the truck. Approximately 15 others sustained injuries.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Nurul Alam Ashik of Chattogram Medical College Hospital's police outpost stated, "Eleven injured individuals were brought to the hospital from the Natun Bridge area. Two were pronounced dead by doctors. Efforts are underway to identify them, while the others are receiving treatment."

The accident has caused widespread panic in the area, and rescue operations are still ongoing.
