Tangail, Oct 08 (V7N)— Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) has announced the commencement of classes for the first-year students of the 2023-24 academic year. According to a circular signed by the university's registrar on Monday, the first-year, first-semester Bachelor (Honours) classes will begin on October 28, 2024.

The circular specifies that the 1st semester for the 2023-24 academic year will be conducted over 12 weeks to address session congestion. Following the completion of the semester, the final exams are scheduled to start on February 8, 2025.

In addition to the new academic year, MBSTU also announced that regular classes for other academic years, excluding the 2023-24 batch, will resume from October 19, 2024. To clear the backlog and session jam, the usual 14-week semester program will be condensed into 12 weeks, with the semester exams set to begin in the first week of February 2025.

The decision to adjust the academic schedule was made during a meeting chaired by the University Vice-Chancellor, with the participation of the Deans of various faculties and Chairmen of different departments. This revised schedule aims to streamline academic activities and reduce session delays.

MBSTU also reminded students that the final admission process for the first-year Bachelor (Honours) programs for the 2023-24 academic year will continue until October 27, 2024. Admissions began on October 5, and students have been urged to complete the required formalities before the deadline.
