A total of 145,911 students achieved a perfect GPA-5, with 80,933 female students outperforming male counterparts, as 64,978 boys secured the top grade.

The exams, initially scheduled to begin on June 30, faced multiple postponements following the student-led movement demanding reforms in the government job quota system. Amid the unrest, the examination process was halted with six subject exams remaining. Additionally, no practical tests were conducted this year.

The political crisis escalated, culminating in the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5 during a student uprising. With the political situation in flux, the Education Ministry attempted to resume the exams on August 11. However, mounting protests from candidates, including a siege of the Secretariat, forced the cancellation of the remaining HSC exams for this year.

The announcement of results today concludes a turbulent chapter for students, providing some closure despite the unprecedented interruptions and political upheaval.
