Dhaka, Apr 16 (V7N) – Students of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute have blocked the Satrasta intersection in Tejgaon, causing a major disruption to traffic in the capital. The demonstration, which began at 10 AM on Tuesday (April 16), was organized to press home their six-point demands.
The protest has brought traffic to a standstill on roads connecting Mohakhali, Moghbazar, and Karwan Bazar, creating significant inconvenience for commuters.
The demonstrating students, under the banner of 'Karigori Chhatra Andolon, Bangladesh', include representatives from government and private polytechnic institutes, technical schools and colleges (TSCs), and institutions affiliated with the Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
Among their key demands, the students are calling for the cancellation of the High Court verdict that allowed the promotion of craft instructors to junior instructor posts, a move they deem illegal. They are also demanding that those responsible for the title change and legal proceedings be permanently dismissed from their positions.
The students have warned that if their six-point charter is not met immediately, they will launch an even stronger movement in the coming days.
