Dhaka, Mar 15 (V7N) — The curtain falls on the Amar Ekushey Book Fair today, Sunday, with activities scheduled from 2 pm to 9 pm. The closing ceremony will feature a welcome speech by Professor Mohammad Azam at 3 pm.

As in previous years, several prestigious awards will be presented, including the Chittaranjan Saha Memorial Award, Munir Chowdhury Memorial Award, Rokanuzzaman Khan Dadabhai Memorial Award, Sardar Joyenuddin Memorial Award, and Shilpi Qayyum Chowdhury Memorial Award.

According to Bangla Academy, a total of 3,299 new books were published for the 2025 Amar Ekushey Book Fair. This year, only 1,337 new books were submitted, significantly fewer than last year. The number of stalls and books on display has also decreased.

Sources noted that this edition of the fair saw lower readership than usual. Unlike previous years, there was no pavilion, and publishers reported lower sales. The fair, which traditionally runs throughout February, started on February 25 this year and concludes today due to various logistical reasons.
