Khulna, July 01 (V7N)- The teachers of the three public universities in Khulna, along with their counterparts at other public universities in the country, have initiated a strike starting July 1. Their demands include the withdrawal of the discriminatory notification related to the universal pension scheme, the provision of super grades, and the implementation of a distinct salary structure. The strike, joined by all officials and employees of Khulna University, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), and Khulna Agricultural University, is a call for equality and recognition.

Khulna University:

Professor Dr. SM Ferozer, President of the Khulna University Teachers Association, and General Secretary Mohammad Rakibul Hasan Siddiqui stated that the movement has been ongoing since May to remove public universities from the universal pension scheme. Despite prolonged efforts, no progress has been made. Consequently, a total strike has commenced from July 1, halting classes, examinations, and all official activities. They emphasized the urgent need for a separate salary structure for university teachers and the provision of super grades.

KUET:

KUET Teachers' Association President Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Haseeb and General Secretary Alamgir Hossain led the program where teachers from various departments expressed their concerns. They highlighted that applying different policies for university staff compared to other public sector employees contradicts the fundamental spirit of the constitution.

Khulna Agricultural University:

The teachers here have also stopped work, echoing the same demands.

As a result, all normal activities, including classes and examinations, at these three public universities in Khulna have come to a standstill.
