Khulna, July 16 (V7N)- In Khulna on Tuesday, students from various public and private universities and colleges staged protests against attacks on quota reform demonstrators, causing significant disruptions including long traffic jams.
At 10:30 AM, students from BL College, Haji Muhammad Mohsin College, and other institutions rallied at the new road intersection, blocking traffic. By 11:30 AM, protesters, including those from Khulna University, besieged Khulna Shibbari Chattar.
The demonstrators expressed outrage over recent attacks on students advocating for quota reform across the country. They condemned the violence and demanded justice for those injured during the assaults.
Saif Nawaz, a Khulna University student, stated, "We were peacefully demanding quota reforms, but we were attacked by student league members in various places including Dhaka." Another student, Abir Hossain, highlighted that the attacks were indiscriminate, even targeting female students.
The blockade led to extensive traffic congestion on the Khulna-Jesore highway, disrupting normal commuting.
