Dhaka, Aug 20 (V7N) - The postponed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations have been officially canceled following intense student protests.

Prof Tapan Kumar Sarkar, chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, announced on Tuesday that the method for determining the final results will be decided at a later date.

Earlier in the day, a large number of students had gathered at the Secretariat, which houses the Ministry of Education, demanding an "auto-pass" and the cancellation of the postponed exams.

The protesting students proposed that their final results be based on the exams they had already taken, suggesting that the scores for the postponed subjects be determined by mapping them to corresponding SSC subjects.

The students chanted various slogans, and their primary demand was eventually accepted, leading to the cancellation of the postponed HSC and equivalent examinations.
