Kolkata, Sep 28 (V7N) – Actress Ritabhari Chakraborty, well-known for her success in both Tollywood and Bollywood, recently opened up about being a victim of sexual harassment early in her career. The shocking revelation came in light of a report by the 'Hema Commission' on sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry, where her name surfaced.

According to a report from Anandabazar Patrika, Ritabhari shared that she had faced harassment at the hands of a famous Tollywood producer during the initial stages of her career. The actress, who gained immense popularity with the hit Bengali TV serial Ogo Badhu Sundari, recalled the painful incident when she was preparing to transition from television to the big screen.

In a recent interview, Ritabhari revealed, "A well-known producer touched me inappropriately despite my objections when I was just starting out. I felt dirty and screamed before running away. I couldn't even share the incident with my mother at the time."

At that stage in her career, Ritabhari felt she didn’t have the standing to speak out about the incident. However, she shared that the experience has haunted her for years. Despite her fame and success, the actress had not spoken about the incident publicly until recently.

When asked why she chose to speak up now, Ritabhari explained that she had seen the same producer taking part in a protest march related to the RG tax case. This encounter reignited her memories, and she felt compelled to finally break her silence.

Although she has since made a name for herself in Bollywood and South Indian cinema, Ritabhari says her goal isn’t to smear anyone, but to share her story as part of the larger conversation about sexual harassment and to bring awareness to the issues women face in the entertainment industry.
