Dhaka, Dec 01 (V7N) — Renowned actress and former Member of Parliament, Subarna Mustafa, was detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday morning, sparking widespread speculation. However, immigration police have clarified the situation, stating that Mustafa was not arrested but temporarily held due to certain objections raised by an intelligence agency.

Sources from the immigration police confirmed that Subarna Mustafa was not allowed to board her Thai Airways flight to Thailand due to security-related concerns. The actress had been attempting to leave the country when she was detained for further checks, but there was no official arrest involved.

Subarna Mustafa, who has long been associated with politics, particularly the Bangladesh Awami League, had served as a Member of Parliament for the reserved women’s seat-4 from 2019 to 2024. Following the Awami League's victory in the 11th parliamentary elections, she had expressed interest in running for a reserved seat, later earning the nomination.

While the details behind the immigration agency's objections remain undisclosed, the actress has not faced any formal legal charges or arrests. Her supporters and fans are awaiting further clarification from the authorities.
