Hyderabad, Dec 13 (V7N)- Popular South Indian actor Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday by the Chikkadpalli police from his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. The arrest follows an unfortunate incident during the premiere of his highly anticipated movie Pushpa 2: The Rule, which claimed the life of a female fan, Revati, and left her 8-year-old son, Sreetej, critically injured.

The tragedy occurred on December 4 at the Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad. Revati was trampled to death in the chaos caused by an unannounced appearance by the actor, which drew an uncontrollable crowd of fans outside the theater. Her son, Sreetej, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries and remains under medical care.

Following the incident, Revati’s family filed a case against Allu Arjun, alleging negligence on his part and that of the theater authorities and security team. According to the complaint, the actor arrived at the theater at around 9:30 PM without prior intimation, spending 15–20 minutes outside the entrance. The unexpected arrival caused hundreds of fans to gather hastily, resulting in chaos. The security team's efforts to manage the situation reportedly exacerbated the crowd surge, ultimately leading to the tragic outcome.

The police have charged Allu Arjun, the theater authorities, and his security team under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Indian Penal Code. The actor is currently being held for questioning at the Chikkadpalli police station.

This incident casts a shadow over the massive success of Pushpa 2, which had already achieved pre-release business exceeding ₹400 crores. The film, a sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise, has been released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Further developments regarding the investigation and the actor's legal standing are awaited.
