New York, Jan 14, (V7N) - Country music star Carrie Underwood is set to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration. The singer will deliver a rendition of "America the Beautiful," accompanied by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.

In a statement, Underwood expressed her gratitude for being invited, saying, “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration. It’s a privilege to contribute to such a historic event. At a time when unity is essential, I am humbled to play a small part in bringing people together.”

This marks Underwood's first performance at a presidential inauguration. The award-winning artist, known for hits like "Jesus, Take the Wheel," has consistently avoided making public political statements. In a 2019 interview, she shared, “I try to stay away from politics publicly because it’s never black and white. People often try to label you, but it’s not that simple.”

President Trump’s previous inauguration in 2017 featured performers such as Toby Keith, Lee Greenwood, and 3 Doors Down. However, the 2017 event also saw controversies, as some artists declined invitations. For example, singer Jennifer Holliday canceled her performance after backlash, explaining that her intent to use music as a unifying force was misunderstood as political support.

Underwood’s performance at the inauguration will follow her recent appearance on ABC’s "Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve."
