Dhaka, Apr 04 (V7N) – Actress Porimoni has been accused of physically assaulting her domestic helper, Pinki Akhter, after an altercation regarding the feeding schedule of her one-year-old daughter. The victim has filed a General Diary (GD) with the Bhatara Police Station on Thursday, April 3.
According to Md. Mazharul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhatara Police Station, the police are currently investigating the matter. The domestic helper claims that she was subjected to severe physical abuse by the actress after a disagreement over feeding the child.
Pinki Akhter, the victim, explained that she had been employed at Porimoni’s residence in Bashundhara Residential Area a month ago through a contact named Kader. Her responsibilities included caring for Porimoni’s young daughter, which involved feeding the child every two hours, as per the actress’s instructions. However, Pinki alleges that she was also given additional household duties.
On April 2, while preparing to feed the child, Pinki claimed that she was verbally abused by Porimoni after informing a visitor, Sourav, that the child had recently eaten solid food, and it wasn’t time to feed her milk yet. Despite this, she proceeded to prepare milk. According to Pinki, Porimoni reacted angrily, calling her names, and physically attacked her.
The domestic helper alleged that the actress slapped her repeatedly on the head and face, causing her to fall to the floor multiple times. Pinki further claimed that one of the slaps left her unable to see from her left eye. As the beating continued, Pinki fell unconscious and was later revived after about an hour.
Pinki managed to secretly contact Kader’s brother for help but was told that Porimoni could not be disturbed while she was sleeping. Left with no other option, Pinki called the emergency services number 999 for assistance.
After being rescued, Pinki sought treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital, where she received first aid for her injuries. She also informed her cousin, who arrived at Porimoni’s house and, alongside the police, helped facilitate her medical care.
The victim has stated her intention to pursue further legal action against Porimoni in connection with the incident.
The police are continuing their investigation into the allegations of abuse and assault.
