Dhaka, Jan 09 (V7N) — The Dhallywood Film and Music Awards, a prestigious international platform recognizing excellence in Bangladeshi cinema, music, drama, and cultural arts, is set to be held in Dhaka for the first time since its inception in 2002. Traditionally organized in the United States over the past two decades, the event will celebrate its Silver Jubilee with the 25th edition scheduled for Friday evening, January 9, at the China–Bangladesh Friendship International Convention Center in the capital.
Organized by Show Time Music and Play, the awards ceremony has long been hosted in New York, where it has become a major cultural gathering for expatriate Bangladeshis alongside leading artists and cultural figures from Bangladesh. Organizers say the decision to bring the milestone edition to Dhaka reflects both the significance of the Silver Jubilee and a commitment to celebrating the nation’s cultural achievements on home ground.
The event is being overseen once again by Show Time Music and Play Chief Executive Officer Alamgir Khan Alam and Vice President Shahin Kabir. Details of the Silver Jubilee celebration were officially announced at a press conference held last November at a club in Gulshan, Dhaka, attended by prominent figures from the entertainment industry.
According to Alamgir Khan Alam, hosting the awards in Dhaka aims to honor the legacy of Dhallywood while offering audiences a vibrant cultural evening featuring dance performances, musical presentations, and the participation of leading personalities from film, television, and music.
Organizers have confirmed the attendance of several popular stars, including Mehazabien Chowdhury, Tanjin Tisha, Misha Sawdagor, Tama Mirza, Mandira Chakraborty, Jovan, Tottini, Yash Rohan, Sunerah, Ziaul Haque Palash, and Tausif Mahbub, among others from the film and drama sectors.
More than 30 artists and creators will be honored for their outstanding contributions to film, music, and the entertainment industry in 2025. Organizers believe the recognition will inspire emerging talents and further strengthen the international profile and cultural legacy of Bangladesh’s vibrant entertainment scene.
