As the scorching heatwave continues to grip Kolkata with temperatures soaring to a stifling 43 degrees Celsius, campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls presses on despite the challenging conditions. From candidates to party MLAs, leaders, ministers, and even celebrities, everyone is actively engaged in election road shows and campaigns, braving the intense heat.

However, the relentless heatwave took its toll on popular Tollywood actor and Trinamool MLA Soham Chakraborty, who fell ill while campaigning in Malda district. According to reports from Indian media outlet 'The Wall', Chandipur MLA Soham Chakraborty had been tirelessly campaigning in support of party candidates for several days when he succumbed to illness due to the extreme hot weather conditions, exacerbated by the loo, or hot summer air currents.

Soham Chakraborty, who has been battling diabetes for a prolonged period, experienced symptoms of fever and diarrhea during his campaign in the sweltering summer heat. Consequently, he was hospitalized in Malda. Fortunately, hospital sources have indicated that he is now in stable condition and recovering.

Upon learning of Soham's illness, fellow actor and politician Dev paid him a visit on Tuesday to express his concern and solidarity. Additionally, State Minister Arup Biswas also visited Soham to extend his support and wishes for a speedy recovery, underscoring the camaraderie and solidarity among campaigners amidst the challenging campaign environment exacerbated by the relentless heatwave.
