The High Commission congratulated Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya in a message posted on its verified Facebook page on Tuesday.

The statement states that Bannya is a renowned exponent of Rabindra Sangeet and that her significant contributions to the development of music and art as a shared cultural legacy between Bangladesh and India bear witness to her unwavering dedication to excellence throughout her life.

The Indian government has announced Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, a well-known vocalist from Bangladesh, as one of the recipients of the esteemed Padma Shri Award.

One of India's highest civilian honors, the Padma Award, is given out in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.

The 52nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Dhaka and Moscow was marked in Dhaka.

Award categories include art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service, among other professions and spheres of endeavor.

"Padma Bhushan" is given for exceptionally distinguished service of the highest grade, "Padma Shri" for outstanding service in any field, and "Padma Vibhushan" for extraordinary and distinguished service.

Each year, Republic Day is the day on which the honors are announced.
