From Tuesday morning till Tuesday afternoon, there was no noise of gunfire coming from Myanmar's Rakhine over the Shahpari island border. The border residents along the Teknaf border did not hear any gunfire for six days in a succession.

The border inhabitants' fear hasn't lessened yet, though. Because of the ongoing conflict between the junta government and the rebel-armed Arakan Army, personnel of the Coast Guard and Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) have increased patrols along the Naf River out of concern about infiltration.

The Coast Guard's media officer for Chittagong East Zone stated, "We have increased our patrols because there's a chance that, with the ongoing fighting on the other side, we could infiltrate the Shahpari Island border of the Naf River." Also, between January 25 and February 20, we repulsed almost 200 raids by the Rohingya people.

There hasn't been any firing on the border since the morning, said, Abdus Salam, a UP member from Teknaf Shahpari Island Ward No. 9. Residents along the border still experience dread, though, because the conflict hasn't yet ended on the opposite side. Furthermore, to stop infiltration, BGB and Naf River Coast Guard patrols along the border have been reinforced.
