Dhaka, Jan 07, (V7N) - The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has initiated precautionary measures in light of recent aviation accidents in South Korea and Thailand. CAAB officials have announced a comprehensive meeting to evaluate these incidents and strengthen aviation safety measures in Bangladesh.

Scheduled for Wednesday, the discussion will be held at the CAAB headquarters auditorium. The meeting will include representatives from domestic and international airlines, as well as officials from the military, RAB, police, and other aviation-related organizations.

The session will be chaired by CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Mofidur Rahman. Speaking about the initiative, the chairman stated, "Over the past two months, several aviation accidents abroad have caused significant casualties, with over a hundred passengers killed or injured. This meeting aims to learn from those incidents and implement measures to enhance aviation safety."

The focus of the meeting will include an analysis of recent accidents and their causes. Notably, the crash in South Korea claimed the lives of 179 passengers on December 29, 2024. A Jeju Airlines flight from Bangkok to Muan International Airport experienced a landing gear failure, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing without wheels. The plane lost control, hit the runway wall, and caught fire. Tragically, only two crew members survived.

The CAAB meeting underscores the organization's commitment to proactive safety measures and collaborative efforts with stakeholders to prevent such tragedies in the future.
