DHAKA, Apr 22 (V7N)- Interpol has issued a red notice for former Inspector General of Bangladesh Police, Benazir Ahmed, according to an announcement on April 22, 2025.
Assistant Inspector General (Media and Public Relations) of Police, Md. Inamul Hauqe Sagar, confirmed the development to BSS. He stated that the National Central Bureau (NCB), a unit within the Police Headquarters (PHQ), had previously submitted a request to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) for the issuance of the red notice.
"We recently knew that the Interpol issued a red notice against former inspector general of Bangladesh Police Benazir Ahmed," Sagar said.
Benazir Ahmed served as the Inspector General of Police from April 2020 to September 2022. Prior to this, he was the Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from 2015 to 2020. During his tenure in these positions, allegations of his involvement in extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances were raised.
