This is the first time in Asia that a crocodile mounted with a satellite transmitter has been let loose into the Sundarbans River.

On March 13, in cooperation with the Forest Department and IUCN, Dr. Ru Somaweera of Sri Lanka and Dr. Paul of Australia, crocodile experts, saved a female crocodile named Madhu from the house area of Karamjal crocodile Juliet and Michael Madhusudan Dutta of Jessore. They then installed a satellite transmitter device and released the rescued crocodile into the Bhadra River in the Sundarbans.

The Karamjal Wildlife Center's officer-in-charge, Howladar Azad Kabir, verified this information and stated that it will allow for the determination of the crocodiles' migratory patterns and the survival rate of those released into the river.

Sarwar Alam Dipu.
