Dhaka, Dec 20 (V7N)- The body of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi has been taken to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. The body was transferred from the cold storage of the National Heart Institute to the morgue at around 9:40 am on Saturday.

Hadi’s body was brought under tight security provided by the army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), police, and other law enforcement agencies. His family members, fellow activists, and colleagues accompanied the body. Since early morning, people from different parts of the country gathered at the hospital to pay their last respects.

After the autopsy, Hadi’s body will be given a ritual bath at around 11:30 am. Following the completion of all formalities, the body will be taken to the South Plaza of the National Parliament, where his funeral prayer (janaza) will be held at 2:00 pm.

Meanwhile, a one-day national mourning is being observed across the country on Saturday (December 20) following the death of Sharif Osman Hadi. On this occasion, the national flag is being flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, educational institutions, government and private buildings, as well as Bangladesh missions abroad.

Earlier, in an address to the nation on Thursday night (December 18), Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus announced the national mourning day in honor of the late leader.

Sharif Osman Hadi was critically injured after being shot by miscreants in Bijoynagar, Dhaka, on February 12. He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Later, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital at the request of his family and subsequently transferred to Singapore General Hospital for advanced treatment, where he eventually passed away.
