Dhaka, Oct 13 (V7N)— Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has demanded justice for all the murders that occurred between October 28, 2006, and August 5, 2014, with a special emphasis on the killings that took place during July-August.

Speaking as the chief guest at the Annual Member Conference of Dhaka Metropolitan North (RUCON) 2024, held at the China Friendship Conference Center in Dhaka on Sunday morning, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman insisted that the trials for these crimes should proceed swiftly and fairly.

In his speech, he criticised the ruling Awami League and its student wing, the Chhatra League, alleging that they had formed a "hammer-helmet force" and committed serious human rights violations. "Obaidul Quader acted with pride and injustice, treating people with disdain," the Jamaat chief remarked. "Every misdeed must face consequences."

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stressed that Jamaat-e-Islami seeks justice, not revenge, promising that all victims of oppression would receive justice under their leadership. "Jamaat workers never resorted to extortion or occupation after revolutions. Instead, we have always stood by the people," he added.

He also called on civil society, journalists, and others to unite in building a country free from discrimination and corruption.

The conference, held after 19 years, was marked by a festive atmosphere. According to party officials, more than 10,000 members, including representatives from the Shura and Central Executive Council, attended the gathering. The event was presided over by Mohammad Salim Uddin, a member of the party’s central executive council and the Amir of Dhaka Metropolitan North.
