Dhaka, Oct 18 (V7N) — Zainal Abdin Farooq, Advisor to BNP Chairperson, has demanded the immediate trial of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, calling for her to be brought from India to Bangladesh. Farooq made this statement during a human chain protest in front of the National Press Club on Friday morning.

During the protest, Farooq accused Sheikh Hasina of creating what he termed a “world of lies” over the past 16 years and claimed that the Awami League government has destroyed the country’s democratic institutions. “The people of Bangladesh do not support the Awami League, the destroyer of democracy,” he said.

Farooq also called for the withdrawal of all cases filed against BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, stating that the legal proceedings were politically motivated.

He further remarked, “It is time to see how India deals with Bangladesh,” hinting at the political dynamics between the neighbouring nations amid Bangladesh’s internal political tensions.

The protest reflects the growing tensions between the major political parties as the country approaches a critical election period.
