Dhaka, Nov 20 (V7N) – BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is set to attend the Armed Forces Day program at Senakunj tomorrow (November 21). This marks her first public appearance in over six years. Khaleda Zia will leave her Gulshan residence at 3:30 PM to join the event.
ABM Abdus Sattar, the BNP Chairperson's personal assistant, confirmed this information today.
Khaleda Zia last attended a public program on February 5, 2018, during a visit to Sylhet. Her presence at Senakunj holds significant political and symbolic importance as she reconnects with public events after years of absence.
For the first time since 2009, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has also been invited to the Armed Forces Day reception. A delegation of 26 BNP leaders, including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, members of the standing committee, and vice chairpersons, will accompany Khaleda Zia at the event.
Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will attend the program as the chief guest. The event at Senakunj commemorates the bravery and sacrifices of the nation’s armed forces, with key political and military figures in attendance.
The reception is expected to draw considerable attention, as Khaleda Zia’s return to public life could signal renewed momentum for her political leadership amidst Bangladesh’s shifting political landscape.
