Meherpur , Nov 22 (V7N) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar stated that his party firmly opposes the banning of any political organization, including its rivals, underscoring Jamaat’s commitment to democracy and dialogue with other political entities such as the BNP and Islamic groups.
Speaking at a member (Rukon) conference held at Dr. Shaheed Samnuzzhoha Park in Meherpur on Friday, Parwar recalled Jamaat's own experience of being banned. He claimed that four days prior to August 5, Jamaat faced a ban but argued that public discontent led to a collapse of the Awami League and Chhatra League within days, forcing Sheikh Hasina and her family to leave the country.
"The people will decide whether the Awami League can contest the elections," Parwar stated.
He further emphasized the need for Sheikh Hasina to face justice through proper legal channels, stressing that punishment would follow due process.
Parwar also advocated for national reforms before elections, arguing that a fair election environment could only be established through changes in the Election Commission, police administration, and executive departments.
The event was attended by Jamaat Central Council Member Mubarak Hossain, District Ameer Maulana Tajuddin Khan, and other central and district leaders.
