Dhaka, Nov 23 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized that sustainable reforms cannot be achieved instantly, calling for patience as the nation undergoes a crucial transitional phase.

Speaking at a civic discussion titled "Long Anti-Fascist Movement: Today's Perspective" at the Jessore District Council auditorium on Friday, Fakhrul criticized the Awami League for undermining democratic and economic stability.

Accusations Against the Ruling Party
Fakhrul alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina abolished the caretaker government system, introduced by Begum Khaleda Zia, pushing the country into instability. He also accused the government of emptying the nation’s banks, suppressing dissent by shutting down media outlets such as Diganta Television, and enacting restrictive laws to control remaining media.

BNP's Vision for Reform
He noted that the reforms being discussed stem from BNP’s 31-point proposal, developed in collaboration with 42 political parties. "Unity is essential to rebuild this nation with democratic and human values," Fakhrul stated.

He highlighted BNP's commitment to forming a government of consensus with all oppressed parties to drive the country toward prosperity. "Elections will bring stability, and if BNP comes to power, we will advance the reform process from where it stands today," he assured.

Historical Significance of Sacrifices
Referring to past struggles, Fakhrul acknowledged the sacrifices made by individuals like Shaheed Asad, Dr. Milon, and Abu Sayeed in the fight against tyranny. "Change comes through sacrifices, and those who gave their blood for freedom must always be remembered," he remarked.

Event Highlights
The event, presided over by Jessore District BNP Convener Nargis Begum, featured speeches by BNP Vice Chairman Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury and Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit.
