Chuadanga, Nov 23 (V7N)-  BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has cautioned that delays in holding elections will only exacerbate conspiracies against the country. Speaking virtually as the chief guest at the biennial conference of the Chuadanga District BNP on Saturday, he stressed the need for timely elections to establish genuine representatives of the people.

Rahman accused the ruling regime of collaborating with both domestic and international forces to undermine the nation's interests. “The dictatorship that the people fought against with their lives is not idle. They continue to conspire against the country,” he said.

He emphasized that proposed reforms—often discussed by the interim government and political stakeholders—can only materialize under the leadership of elected representatives. “Without people's representatives, implementing these reforms is not possible,” Rahman noted.

Highlighting the consequences of delaying elections, he warned of worsening healthcare, education, and agricultural challenges. “The longer the election is delayed, the more problems will intensify for everyone, from farmers to citizens seeking basic services. All these issues can start to be resolved through a single, fair election.”

Tarique Rahman also criticized past authoritarian regimes, blaming them for dismantling the country's institutions. He called for electing capable representatives to rebuild these institutions for public welfare.

“Our sole objective is to change the fate of the people and take the country forward,” he said, reiterating the BNP's commitment to democratic reforms and national progress.
