Dhaka, Jan 01 (V7N) — BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has urged party leaders and activists to mentally prepare for upcoming elections, dismissing confusion spread by those with "different motives" and fear of public verdicts. Speaking virtually at the 46th founding anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, held at the Engineers Institution auditorium in Ramna, he emphasised the importance of ensuring fair elections for the country's future.
"Reform is an ongoing process," Rahman stated. "An acceptable election is essential to secure the rights of the people. There is no need for frustration, as new parties may emerge to meet the country's needs." He also urged vigilance against propaganda and rash actions that could undermine the success of the mass uprising.
Highlighting the need for market control and addressing the concerns of the public, he remarked, "Now that dictatorship has passed away, it is time to build a humane country."
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir echoed Rahman’s sentiments, emphasising elections as the sole resolution to the nation’s ongoing crisis. "Although fascism has fled, domestic and foreign conspiracies continue. We must remain united to overcome these challenges," he said. Fakhrul also urged Chhatra Dal members to intensify their presence on social media, referring to it as a new "cyber warfront."
Celebrating 46 Years of Chhatra Dal:
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, formed by the late President Ziaur Rahman, has grown into one of the country's largest student organisations over its 46-year history. Marking the anniversary, members paid tribute to the party's founder by laying a wreath at his tomb in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Min Khan reiterated the importance of empowering the new generation through voting rights. "The new generation wants to vote. We must ensure their rights are restored," he said.
The event concluded with a discussion meeting organised by Chhatra Dal, where party leaders reaffirmed their commitment to reforms, fair elections, and the nation's progress.
