London, Jan 25 (V7N)— BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been discharged from the London clinic where she was receiving advanced treatment and has returned to her son Tarique Rahman's residence. Doctors have advised her to stay at home for the time being as her health has shown significant improvement after 17 days of care.
Tarique Rahman, who is also the Acting Chairman of the BNP, personally drove his mother home at 9:30 pm local time (3:30 am Bangladesh time). His wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, accompanied them during the journey.
Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, Khaleda Zia's personal physician, confirmed that her physical condition has improved notably. However, he stated that no decision has yet been made regarding a liver transplant. Khaleda Zia will remain under observation for the coming days under the supervision of liver specialist Dr. Patrick Kennedy.
The 79-year-old former prime minister was admitted to the clinic on January 8 for treatment of complications arising from liver cirrhosis, as well as kidney, heart, diabetes, and arthritis-related issues.
Khaleda Zia’s health has been a subject of concern for her party and supporters, and her gradual recovery is seen as a positive development. Further updates on her condition and treatment plan are expected in the coming weeks.
