Sirajganj, Jan 25, (V7N) - Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami, stated that his goal is to transform Bangladesh into an Islamic state. He emphasized that such a state would not accept any form of dominance. He declared that no one will be allowed to play with the future of Bangladesh. Khan also criticized the ruling Awami League for allegedly creating two crore fake voters during the past 15 years, claiming that the Election Commission is updating the voter list but it should not be used for upcoming elections. He insisted that a new voter list should be created to ensure a fair and free election.
He added, "People have not sacrificed their lives to witness another fascist rule. In 2008, the election was rigged; in 2014, it was an election without votes; in 2018, it was a night-time vote; and in 2024, the Awami League has come to power with a dummy election." According to him, the people who ended Indian dominance should no longer allow the government to rule in such an undemocratic manner.
Speaking at a rally organized by the Jamaat-e-Islami in Nimghachi Degree College ground, on January 25, 2025, he addressed the government, saying, "If you cannot handle the situation, then hand it over to the people. They will break the syndicates and restore order. This country doesn’t belong to anyone’s family or any political party. We will not allow anyone to manipulate this nation."
Khan continued by saying that there is a growing voice across the country: "The era of all political parties is over, now it’s Jamaat-e-Islami’s Bangladesh." He expressed that under Jamaat’s rule, women would be honored, and non-Muslims would be safe and well-treated, as Jamaat would ensure their security. He reaffirmed that no one had sacrificed their lives for a flawed election and emphasized the need for reforms to ensure a transparent and fair election process. He urged the government to give a clear roadmap for reforms and the election date, stating that delay in reforms was not acceptable.
Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan also referred to the people’s resistance against oppression in the past, mentioning the brutal killings of thousands of students and people. He pointed out the fate of those who had celebrated the hanging of Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, saying the world had seen the consequences of such actions.
The rally was presided over by Ali Murtaza, the Amir of Sirajganj District Jamaat, and featured special guests such as Dr. Maulana Abdus Samad, a member of the central executive committee of Jamaat, and Maulana Shahinur Alam, the district Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami.
