Habiganj, Feb 08, (V7N) — A mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was vandalized in front of the historic Teliapara Tea Garden Memorial in Madhabpur, Habiganj. The incident occurred on Friday morning when a group of anti-discrimination student activists destroyed the mural.
Following a speech by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, student activists across the country, including those in Madhabpur, were stirred into action against discrimination. On Thursday, January 6, the mural was partially damaged with a hammer, though it was not completely destroyed at that time.
On Friday, February 7, the student activists returned with hammers and crowbars, completely demolishing the mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. They also chanted slogans against Sheikh Hasina, calling her a “fallen dictator.”
Tarek, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement in the Upazila, declared, “The evil symbol of fascist Sheikh Hasina and her family will be erased from the land of Bengal.”
