Rangamati, Feb 21 (V7N) - Under Operation Devil Hunt, police have arrested Prakash Chakma, the former general secretary of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League in Rangamati district. He was arrested on Thursday afternoon, confirmed an additional superintendent of police from the district.
According to the police, a joint operation by the detective police and Kotwali police, based on secret intelligence and technology, led to the confirmation of Prakash Chakma's location at a spot near Bargi Lake on the Asambasti-Kaptai road. Chakma is reportedly facing multiple cases against him. He served as the general secretary of Rangamati district Chhatra League from 2015 to 2024.
Prakash Chakma, who is known as a close ally of former state minister Dipankar Talukdar, was also very active on social media following Talukdar’s recent arrest in the capital. Chakma hails from the Baghaichhari upazila.
The additional police superintendent confirmed the arrest, and the Kotwali police have said that legal actions are ongoing.
