Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader stated on Monday that if the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) conducts any political program or movement during the holy month of Ramadan, it will face further isolation. Quader warned that BNP's public support would dwindle if it engages in political activities during Ramadan, emphasizing the sanctity of the month. He made these remarks after a meeting of Awami League secretaries at its central office in Bangabandhu Avenue, Dhaka.

Regarding recent violence in the Supreme Court Bar election, Quader reiterated the government's "zero tolerance" policy towards all forms of violence and crimes. He affirmed the government's determination to apprehend all perpetrators of violence, labeling them as criminals.

Quader addressed concerns about rising prices of essentials during Ramadan, stating that the government is diligently working to control commodity prices. He highlighted the reduction in fuel prices despite global crises, contrasting it with the alleged failure to do so during BNP's tenure.

In light of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's directive, Quader announced that the party would not organize iftar parties this year. Instead, they would distribute iftar and relief items to the underprivileged.

Reflecting on recent local government elections, Quader praised their peaceful conduct nationwide despite domestic and international propaganda. He cited the Election Commission's announcement of a 60 percent voter turnout in elections including those in Mymensingh and Comilla.

Regarding the arrests of BNP leaders, Quader emphasized that no patriot government would spare individuals involved in criminal activities, terrorism, or arson attacks. He criticized top BNP leaders for allegedly lying about the arrests.
