Netrokona, July 27 (V7N) – National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has described the July 24 uprising as the most significant political event in Bangladesh since the 1971 Liberation War. He made this statement at a public rally in Netrokona on Sunday (July 27) during the NCP's ongoing “July March” campaign.

Nahid Islam accused the former “fascist government” of stripping citizens of their rights, claiming that it was the united movement of students and the public that led to the regime’s downfall through a mass uprising.

Calling for fundamental reforms, he reiterated the NCP’s demand for a new constitution, emphasizing the necessity of a Constituent Assembly election to reshape the political structure of the country.

He further asserted that the NCP stands firmly against Mujibism and Indian hegemony, pledging to safeguard Bangladesh's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

“Our goal is to build a welfare state by ensuring every citizen’s right to education, healthcare, and employment,” he said.

Addressing the youth, Nahid Islam highlighted the party’s commitment to the new generation. “The NCP has been created for the youth. We will build a beautiful Bangladesh with their energy and vision,” he said, urging young people to take leadership roles in shaping the nation’s future.

He also called upon the party’s leadership to act as guardians for the elderly, offering assistance and support to uphold social solidarity.
