Dhaka, Aug 23 (V7N) – Dr. Tasneem Zara, Senior Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has alleged that a series of lies and rumors are being deliberately spread against her. In a social media post on Friday, she said she intends to remain focused on her political activities and public work despite the campaign of misinformation.

Dr. Zara explained that she had recently traveled to Nepal at the invitation of the Nepalese government to speak at a program on Clean Air held on July 2. She stressed that she had no meeting with any U.S. official during the visit, rejecting as “false and fictional” reports by an Indian portal that claimed she had met with an American diplomat.

She also recalled that earlier this month, a news outlet falsely reported that she met with former U.S. Ambassador Peter Haas in Cox’s Bazar. The outlet later retracted the report and issued an apology.

Addressing a confirmed engagement, Zara noted that on August 11, an NCP delegation — including the party’s convener, member secretary, herself, and a joint member secretary — held a meeting with the U.S. ambassador. “It was not a secret meeting; a press release was issued from our side,” she said.

According to Dr. Zara, while BNP and Jamaat also hold meetings with foreign envoys, “misleading propaganda” is selectively carried out against the NCP. She claimed that at least three false reports had been circulated about her in July and August, citing intelligence agencies as sources, and amplified through media outlets aligned with Awami interests.

“The intention is clear — to repeat the same lie until it is perceived as truth,” she alleged.

Dr. Tasneem Zara concluded by saying she would not be silenced by such propaganda. “I will continue my work to build a new Bangladesh, and in the end, the truth will prevail,” she asserted.
