Dhaka, Sept 13 (V7N) – Police in Dhaka arrested 12 members of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organizations while they were preparing for flash processions in the capital’s Ramna and Gulshan areas, officials confirmed.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said that teams from Ramna and Gulshan police stations conducted separate operations on Thursday night based on intelligence reports. Those arrested were identified as Md. Main Uddin (36), Billal Hossain (38), Md. Rabbi (21), Md. Sohel Hasan Rafi (21), Arif (23), Nadim (19), Md. Shukkur Hawlader (25), Shihab Munshi (25), Md. Jewel (30), and Saddam Mol. The identities of two others are being verified.

According to police, the detainees were planning sudden street demonstrations aimed at disrupting public order. Law enforcement also claimed to have recovered banners, leaflets, and organizational materials from their possession.

Authorities stated that legal proceedings are underway and further investigations are being conducted to identify other individuals involved in organizing the processions.
