New York, Sep 23 (V7N) – The National Citizens Party (NCP) Diaspora Alliance has strongly condemned the incident of egg pelting on Akhtar Hossain, Member Secretary of the NCP, during his visit to the United States with Principal Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus’s entourage.

In a statement, the organization alleged that the attack was carried out by supporters of the Awami League, describing it as both an act of political violence and a failure of Bangladesh’s diplomatic and security mechanisms. The Alliance also raised concerns about the safety of all participants in the government delegation.

The statement outlined three specific demands:

  1. The Bangladesh government should lodge a direct complaint with the US federal government, the New York City authorities, and relevant law enforcement agencies.

  2. The Bangladesh Foreign Service team, including the Consulate General in New York, should be immediately dismissed.

  3. Maximum security measures must be ensured for every visiting leader during the remainder of the US tour.

According to the NCP Diaspora Alliance, the attack also endangered BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other delegation members, although the attackers primarily targeted NCP leaders Akhtar Hossain and Dr. Tasnim Zara.

The Alliance accused Awami League supporters of carrying over their hostility from Bangladesh to foreign soil, noting that Akhtar Hossain, who was previously arrested and tortured during the July Revolution, continues to face retaliation.

“This incident is not only a terrorist attack against political leaders abroad but also a grave threat to the dignity of Bangladesh and the security of its democratic future,” the statement read. “We strongly condemn this heinous act and demand immediate and effective measures.”
