Awami League General Secretary, Obaidul Quader, remarked on Saturday that senior leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) hold conflicting views regarding the policy of boycotting Indian products.
Quader highlighted the divergence in opinions within BNP, noting varying statements from different leaders, including acknowledgment of India's role in Bangladesh's independence alongside calls for boycotting Indian goods. He cited examples such as statements made by Moin Khan, Rizvi, and Mirza Fakhrul, indicating a lack of coherence among party members.
Speaking at the Iftar distribution ceremony of the Dhaka District Awami League in Tejgaon, Quader characterized BNP as a party focused on its own power and interests rather than the welfare of the general populace, contrasting it with Awami League's commitment to serving the people.
Quader emphasized Awami League's approach of distributing Iftar items among the public rather than organizing lavish Iftar parties, underscoring the distinction between the two parties.
He reiterated the directive from party president Sheikh Hasina to continue distributing Iftar and Eid items instead of hosting Iftar parties, extending this practice nationwide.
Quader criticized the tendency of opposition parties, historically and presently, to oppose Awami League without substantive political issues. He credited the support of friendly countries, including India, in countering both domestic and foreign conspiracies during elections.
On the topic of current market prices, Quader expressed optimism, noting a recent decline in prices of several products, including onions. He anticipated further decreases, predicting that prices would reach levels tolerable for the general public.
