Dhaka, Mar 14 (V7N) — Mirza Abbas, Standing Committee member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and political adviser to the Prime Minister, has undergone a second round of brain surgery at Evercare Hospital Dhaka. Doctors confirmed that the operations were successful.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Minister for Local Government, shared the update in a Facebook post early Saturday (March 14), seeking prayers for the veteran politician. “With everyone’s prayers, two operations on distinguished politician Mirza Abbas MP have been successfully completed. He is currently under close observation by doctors. Please pray for Abbas Bhai’s complete recovery,” he wrote.
Earlier on Friday night (March 13), Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister AZM Zahid Hossain, and BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moin Khan visited the hospital to inquire about his condition.
Mirza Abbas was initially scheduled to be taken to Singapore on Friday evening for advanced treatment. However, as his physical condition deteriorated, doctors decided to perform the surgery in Bangladesh. He was taken to the operating theatre after 3 pm, with the first operation completed before evening. Following close observation, a second surgery was performed later in the evening.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Evercare Hospital after Friday prayers and received a detailed briefing from the medical board regarding Abbas’s condition.
Mirza Abbas was admitted to Evercare Hospital on Wednesday night after suddenly falling ill and losing consciousness. The medical board overseeing his treatment includes Prof. Ali Uzzaman Joarder, Prof. Kazi Din Mohammad, Prof. Shahabuddin Talukder, Prof. Rajiul Haque, Prof. Saeed Ahmed, Prof. Quader Sheikh, Prof. Shafiqul Islam, along with other physicians from Evercare Hospital.
